Year 7 students have recently planned and pitched their own towns for Western Sydney to staff, students and industry professionals as part of their Project Based Learning project
The project is called #nailedit.
Classes 7.01, 7.04 and 7.05 were given the challenge to create and put forward a tender of a sustainable town for people to want to live in, including water filtration and recycling ideas. The town was designed on a cartesian plane (map) with different examples of rotation, reflection and translation, where students included a range of residential designs, local amenities, greenery and parklands.
To emphasise the relevance of this project to real world applications for students, local real estate agent from First National Hills Direct (The Ponds), Taylor Bredin, attended the presentations to share his thoughts on the students' proposed towns and present some of the changes happening in the local area.
This project was a fantastic opportunity for students to apply their group learning, science and mathematics studies to real world situations that they may very well be completing in their future!
