On Monday November 12, the Year 12 Legal Studies students visited the Local and District Courts in Parramatta.

Students were engaged by the Rule of Law Institute on the day, taking part in a private Q&A session with Magistrate Still of the Local Court both before and following his morning cases.

Magistrate Still was extremely welcoming, knowledgeable and humble in his approach to the students and spent time ensuring they felt confident in the operation of the Australian legal system and the cases they had seen him rule on.

Students then spent some time after lunch in the District Court before again boarding the train and heading back to Quakers Hill. Students feedback on the day was extremely positive, with the majority indicating that they would have been happy to stay over 'regular school time' to see more cases, another said 'I enjoyed being at the courts and listening to different cases. It makes your study at school and the content your learning more realistic thus motivating.'

Mrs Kingham and Mrs Madigan would like to offer their thanks to all of the students for their exemplary behaviour and engagement on the day and additionally to Jackie Charles of the Rule of Law Institute for her efforts in the preparation and organisation of the day and finally Magistrate Still for his openness and interest in our students studies.
