Quaker's Hill teenager Sofia Frugone spent much of her time as a child flicking through fashion magazines dreaming of rubbing shoulders with top fashion designers.

 

In September she will get that chance at New York Fashion Week, helping behind the scenes.

The 17-year-old studies at The Fashion Institute in Sydney and will be in New York with other members of her class.

She has been soaking up plenty of new experiences this year as part of her diploma course and said she would love to build a career in the fashion world.

“I’ve always been really interested in fashion since I was very young. I grew up reading all the magazines, like Vogue,” she said. “I’m not too sure what I want to do yet but I want to be part of a creative team.”

As part of her diploma course this year she has been interning with NAC Media Group. That saw her help out at the recent Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

“I was helping with the seating and assisting with the media,” she said.

The former student at St John Paul II Catholic College, Schofields, said she expected to be doing similar duties at New York Fashion Week.
