year 11 @ UWS Science
On Wednesday, 8th October, all Year 11 Science students were invited to visit the University of Western Sydney (UWS) to participate in university-level experiments using the UWS facilities. The experiments were run by the Professors at the University. which gave our students a real taste for university life. Students were expected to solve problems independently and interpret their experiments to obtain meaningful results.

The Chemistry students determined the concentration of an unknown solution by making and testing standards, the Physics students calculated acceleration due to gravity using pendulums and the Biology and Senior Science students determined factors that affect the rate of enzyme activity. All three experiments will enhance our students Scientific understanding as they commence their HSC.

The students had a fantastic time! Providing opportunities such as these does not only give the students a chance to experience university life, but also provides a different learning environment away from the everyday classroom. The teachers would also like to thank the students for their fantastic behaviour and representation of the College on the day.
