SCHOOL CLOSURE SCHOFIELDS and NIRIMBA Monday 7th March 2022

6 March 2022

Dear Parents and Carers

With the safety of our community as our top priority, the decision has been made for St John Paul II Catholic College to close tomorrow, Monday 7 March. Remote learning will be provided to support continued student learning. This means that no staff will be on site.

Some of the factors considered in this decision include access to the school site, the safety of our community when travelling, and the need to clean and prepare the school site for the safe return of students and staff later in the week. Government schools in the local area will also be closed tomorrow.

We are monitoring the conditions closely and continue to work with other local Catholic schools, Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta staff, and emergency services. I know that for many families, this late change of arrangement will be inconvenient. Thanks so much for your understanding and support.

Stage 4 and 5 will have their work posted on google classroom.

Stage 6 will have zoom lessons, the link to these will be put into their google classrooms.

If students log onto their google classroom and work has not been posted, there may be a small number of staff who do not have access to the internet given the current issues. If this is the case, students are to continue on with the work they have been doing.

I will let you know as soon as possible what plans are in place beyond Monday. There will be daily updates to our community.

If you have a concern or question, please email the relevant Stage Assistant Principal. The College phone number 92087200 will be diverted tomorrow so that we can respond to any questions or issues if they arise.

We know that members of our school community have been adversely impacted by this weather event. Please keep those families, as well as those in other affected areas of NSW and Queensland, in your prayers.

Yours sincerely

Angela Hay

Principal Leader
